Music at FPC

Hymns/songs for the service are typically selected as a musical expression of the topic of the sermon for the day. Singing hymns and songs is a tangible way of participating in the worship of God, and is highly encouraged. Some songs and hymns are fairly well known, while others less so. However, we have hymnals available if you prefer to follow along or sing in harmony.

Seasonal Programs

Throughout the seasons of Lent and Advent, our music ministries host a weekly program on Wednesdays from 12:15-12:45 p.m. in our Sanctuary that feature local musicians and artists. The community is invited to attend these free concerts and can also purchase $5 sack lunches prepared by Presbyterian Women. Look for upcoming information on our Events page or following our social media.

Chancel Choir

This dedicated group meets every Wednesday night at 5:00 p.m. for rehearsal for one hour. We sing a variety of styles from gospel to contemporary and classical.  Every Sunday, we offer a message in music at the 10:30 a.m. service.  All are welcome to join this fun group of musicians!

Kirk Bell Ringers

Bartlesville’s premiere bell choir, this group plays a 5 octave set of Malmark bells and chimes, and offer music several times during the year.  We also play concerts around the community and during the OK Mozart festival. Practices are Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. in the bell room. Anyone is welcome to join.

Mozart Festival Choir

Made up primarily of our own Chancel Choir, but joined by members of the community who enjoy singing a major classical work with orchestra. We meet several months prior to the festival, including several Saturdays.

Instrumentalists

We are joined by instrumentalists several times during the year.  If you play an instrument and would like to enhance the service, come join us.

Contemporary Worship Team

The Contemporary Worship Team leads the worship and song during our 10:30 a.m. service.  We sing all kinds of music and are constantly learning new songs to enhance worship on Sunday.  If you have a musical gift, whether you play an instrument or your voice is your instrument, come join our team.

The NE OK Harp Ensemble

This group meets at 3pm on Mondays and typically rehearses for 1-2 hours. They play at Community events throughout the year. For more information, please contact the FPC Music Director at 918-440-6435.

The Bartlesville Area Keyboard Orchestra

This ensemble was formed as a way to teach piano students more about digital keyboards and to give them the opportunity to play in an “instrumental” ensemble, whether it is band, orchestra, big band, etc. OKM has generously provided 10 Yamaha Clavinova keyboards for this endeavor. We are proud to be one of the first ensembles of this type in the country. Currently they perform twice a years, in events affiliated with OKM. Students are also given the opportunity to play in services at FPC.

“Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song!”
