I am the third of four children, born and raised in Bartlesville, graduating from High School in 1978, then attending Tulsa University and graduating with a BA in 1982. I attended Princeton Theological Seminary and received my Master of Divinity in 1985. I have served churches in Texas, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, and Michigan. I returned to Bartlesville in late 2015 to help my parents. My father was a Presbyterian Minister and former Pastor of Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church. My mother was a Special Education Teacher in the Bartlesville Public School System. I enjoy teaching and leading people to explore the riches and depths of God’s incomprehensible love. I also have several avocational interests, including ceramics, woodworking, photography, metalworking, and writing. I have a guitar too and sometimes demonstrate my lack of musical talent.

Since 2006, as Director of Children’s Ministry, I have been called to help our children know the love of Jesus Christ and to grow as faithful disciples. Since 2009, as a Commissioned Ruling Elder, I have been called to do the same for adults. Whether coordinating VBS, selecting Sunday School curriculum, leading classes, or preaching, my goal is to get out of the way so that God’s Spirit can move through me and into the lives of the saints here at FPC, Bartlesville. It is a joy, a challenge, and a privilege to be in ministry here. I am grateful for my loving husband, John, my three wonderful sons, Keenan, Taylor, and Aaron, and my daughter-in-law, Alex – all bring joy to my life.

Kathy Stewart
Director of Music Ministry | 918.336.5762 | kathy.stewart@fpcbok.org
I was born in Norman, OK and raised in Bartlesville. I graduated from The University of Tulsa with a double emphasis in instrumental/vocal music, then went on to Yale University, where I graduated with a Master’s of Music in Opera studies. I have been at First Presbyterian Church since shortly after the birth of my daughter, Megan, in 1996. I was the organist from 1997-2004, and have been the Director of Traditional Music since then. My husband, Mark Beckwith, and I helped found Nevus Outreach, Inc., a non-profit for those affected by Giant Congenital Nevus, the rare condition our daughter was born with. Much to the chagrin of my husband, I am a promiscuous animal lover, and will take in just about anything that shows up. We currently live with 3 dogs and a cat. In my spare time, I am an avid bird watcher and am learning to play the harp.

I love my job! I am so grateful for the love that I’ve been shown here, the experiences I’ve been given, and the people I’ve been privileged to meet. Each day is different, and I look forward to what tomorrow brings!
