Bible Fellowship

Wednesday Night Bible Study

At 6:30 p.m. in the Community Room, following our Wednesday Night Dinner series, explore what it means to feed on God’s word and be nourished by it in the richest way with a discussion led by Pastor Stephen Carl.

Three different books of the Bible contain the imagery of “eating God’s word.” Two are commands from God to “eat this book” (Ezekiel 3:1 Revelation 10:9) and the third is Jeremiah speaking about consuming God’s word, taking it in and being nourished by it.

Eugene Peterson, author of The Message, titled one of his books on faith “Eat this Book.” He writes: “Christians feed on Scripture. Holy Scripture nurtures the Holy Community as food nurtures the human body. Christians do not simply learn or study or use Scripture; we assimilate it, take it into our lives in such a way that it gets metabolized into acts of love, cups of cold water, missions into all the world, healing and evangelism and justice in Jesus’ name, hands raised in adoration of the Father.”

Digging Deeper

The Digging Deeper study group, led by Jessica Moses, will meet Wednesday evenings at 6:45 p.m. in the church library. The group will study “Unanswered” by Jeremiah Johnstone, a book focused on tackling the hard questions of Christianity and helping believers have a defense for their faith within those questions.
